Arts Internship Program

The Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture

How We Did It

Quickly pivoted from an in-person program to an online event as the COVID pandemic hit the world. Planned, sourced, programmed, managed and produced the 4-hour virtual Arts Summit in for the fall 2020 for a projected 200+ student interns and special guests. Our team branded the program with a new logo and style guide, and our curation included the introduction of relevant and exciting artists to perform during the event, commissioned talent to design special giveaways with art components, and influential and recognized talent - from poets to musicians. We included dignitaries from across the region, produced a 10-minute film about the program’s history in celebration of its 20th anniversary, and created a new platform for students to engage with each other.

Outcome

Uplifted and engaged with the college cohort of interns during the unprecedented time as they maneuvered through their college education, an exciting yet challenging virtual internship in the arts, and the isolation caused by the pandemic. The event turned out to be one of the most exciting and successfully engaging experiences for the client, and introduced the idea of developing more virtual and hybrid opportunities for the program. The brand design our team created has continued to be promoted throughout the department’s outreach efforts. As a result, our team was brought back in 2021 to produce a second version of the successful event and continued to be invited back to serve as the departments go-to agency.
