Urban Orchard
Trust for Public Land
How We Did It
Developed the storyline, script, and interviewed various community members and project leaders to tell the Urban Orchard story through the lens of the community. Working with the City of South Gate, The Rosalinde & Arthur Gilbert Foundation, Rivers & Mountains Conservancy, the Speaker of the California State Assembly, and local community leaders, we created a video to showcase the desire, evolution and development of the 30-acre open space project that will include an education garden, fruit orchards, multi-use paths with fitness equipment, a nature-based playground honoring Tongva history, community buildings, and community-based artwork.
Outcome
The project served as a storytelling and stewardship tool, conveying that the Urban Orchard is the most ambitious project to date and exemplifies TPL’s larger vision for Los Angeles and its commitment to LA’s diverse communities. The video is the anchor for telling the story of the Urban Orchard and is highlighted on TPL’s website.
